Faith Pt. 1

This powerful message challenges us to examine the very foundation of our faith by distinguishing between genuine biblical faith and what modern Christianity has sometimes reduced to mere blind optimism. Drawing from Hebrews 10:39 and 11:1, we're confronted with a sobering truth: real faith isn't just about hoping things work out the way we want them to. Instead, it consists of two inseparable parts working together—confidence in what God has promised and conviction about realities we cannot yet see or may never see in this lifetime. The message takes us back to the foundational stories of creation and the account of Cain and Abel, revealing that the critical difference between these brothers wasn't just their offerings, but their faith expressed through obedience. Abel brought exactly what God required, acknowledging his sin and need for a Savior, while Cain wanted worship without submission, religion without repentance. This pattern echoes throughout Scripture: Noah built an ark before rain existed, Abraham left home without knowing his destination, Sarah believed she'd conceive when it seemed impossible. Each acted in obedience not because they understood everything, but because they trusted God. We're called to stop putting our faith on a sliding scale, stop trying to make human reasoning support God's revelation, and instead embrace the truth that God's work isn't limited to what is visible, measurable, or immediately understandable. The challenge before us is clear: will we continue living like Cain, seeking our own way while calling it faith, or will we embrace Abel's example of obedient trust?
