Real Faith: Closing

Jun 28, 2026    Pastor De'Andre Ralston

This powerful message challenges us to examine what we leave behind when we step into the world each day. Drawing from Ephesians 6:16 and Hebrews 11, we're confronted with a crucial question: are we carrying our faith with us, or leaving it at home like forgotten car keys? The sermon explores the difference between having opinions and holding convictions—convictions being biblical truths we're willing to suffer for, truths that anchor us when everything else shifts. We're reminded that faith isn't passive; it's not something we admire from a distance or display on Sundays only. Like the Roman soldier's shield, our faith must be taken up daily, intentionally, and held ready for battle. The vivid illustration of walking through life's circumstances—loss, grief, financial struggles, family challenges—shows us that without actively raising our shield of faith, we're vulnerable to every arrow the enemy fires. But when we understand faith as both assurance of things hoped for and conviction of things unseen, we discover it's not just sufficient for our own battles—it's strong enough to protect those around us. This message calls us to stop drifting toward comfort and compromise, and instead press intentionally toward Christ, recognizing that nobody accidentally grows closer to Jesus. It's a wake-up call to take inventory of what truths we've compromised and what convictions will guide us through every circumstance.
